Lately I’ve been using photographic images as patterns for my work. The image itself doesn’t seem to matter, only the form of the objects when doubled over and assembled as part of a wider collage.
I have used a few models to gain an archive of body imagery, and to a certain point the images themselves do not matter, but sometimes an image pops out, and must be left aside from the collaging work. It is a simple but affecting image.
Below is one of my models, Casey, right before I asked her to pose. I like the fact that she seems to sink into the blacks and her skin shows the red knuckles and the bluey veins creeping along her hands. Her white skin next to her flaming red hair.
This one simple, beautiful image.
