I have been collecting bits and bobs from all around the place as decorations for my wedding. Today on a gloriously stormy afternoon I decided to set up a table to see what it would look like, so I rummaged around in my old bottle collection, snipped a rose off the tree outside my window, gathered together the vintage books I’ve been slowly collecting, the frame I picked up for free and I set about arranging them on a beautiful old table that my dearest fiance picked up from the nature strip.
Though my mother isn’t so excited about the shabby table, I do like it. Sure its a little worn and the leather insert that once made it prestigeous is now gone, but I like the engravings on the wood and the reminders of something now past.
And for those curious about the titles, these are just a few of the books I’ve been collecting over the past few months, I liked the idea of theming the books with the idea of love, or even to relate to who each of us are.
One of the great things I’ve really enjoyed about getting to decorate my own wedding is that I’m rediscovering old things; old literature, old styles of furniture, old china, and there is so much to learn from the past, from history. And the thing that you might learn about could be a large desk to a tiny porceline figure, so simple, so small but just so.
