Repurposed Project, Part 1

Recently my ridiculously attractive friend Beth stumbled across a book in the craft section of our little bookstore called the “Repurposed Library” She raced to me when I walked in to work and immediately I fell in love…(with the book). This funky little publication illustrates 33 nifty ideas for upcycling beautiful old books into art pieces, sculptures and fandangled homey ideas.

Below is the start of my own project using an old wildlife book from the opshop. The delicate illustrations are just fantastic, and though some folks may find this whole practise a bit sacreligious, I think of it as a new life for a book. One much more interesting than sitting on a lonely shelf, hoping, just wishing to be picked up and caressed one more time.

I can’t wait to see where the form of this sculpture will take me! I’ll be posting the finished product soon!

I am a person who loves books.
